Mentioned by Byron in 1811-01-10: "John Fiott (I783-1866), a graduate of St. John’s College, Cambridge, toured the Near East in 1807-10 as a 'travelling Bachelor' of his college, collecting antiquities, including manuscripts, coins, and medals. He later gained eminence as a collector and man of science and was a member of the Society of Antiquaries and president of the Royal Astronomical Society."
