Byron to FrWerry 1810-12-10. "Byron and Hobhouse stayed for more than a month with Werry, British Consul-General in Smyrna, on their way to Constantinople. (See Marchand, Vol I, pp. 234-68). When they left, Mrs. Werry cut off a lock of Byron's hair. Hobhouse wrote: 'II saw her cry at parting __ pretty well at 56 years at least'." BLJ XI-177n
